Guildwars via plaync :(
not a happy adventurer to say the least.... ive been promising myself i would treat myself to a copy of guildwars, as ive been a keen follower of the original tsr & dragonlance series for many years now, and always wanted to try online stuff but objected to paying monthly subs... guildwars presented the ideal oppertunity, so i thought i,d take the plunge.. typically guildwars has been supersceded(sp) by factions, and copys of the original version seem to be hard to find.. and not wishing to start in a campaign i was unaware i was resigned to missing out. then i found a link to plaync, who offered instant access for the same price as the oem version, but without the box.... so i payed my money, downloaded the client, and then it all went horribly wrong.... i,ll start with the bad bits and if anyone can help it would be appreciated... 1) is access via plaync free??? ( i,m reffering to the dialup access??) i notice on the times ive been playing, when i come out of GW back to a windows environment, it says reconnecting to my isp, now i thought it should stay connected, does this mean plaync are going to stiff my card for charges??? 2) no manual, well i gathered there was no manual, but to be honest, its like trying to decipher hyroglyphics, everything is a struggle, i dont even know the basic game mechanics, and the friendly in game hints and tips are a tad short of insulting.....quote " just press your mouse once and instead of multiple presses in combat and see what happens" unquote what happens is the the character just stand s there and gets absolutley mullered by the pack of crawlers or other nasties, and after an hour of doing this its no longer gaming, its boredom.. 3) interaction with other characters... really?? you could have fooled me... I contacted plaync for support... i shouldnt have bothered, two repeat emails stating use online forums in lieu of a manual. thats really helpfull, and despite my frustrations they still dont offer any help. 4) How on this or any planet do you interact (talk to another character???) all i get is a box asking me to type in the characters name, which i would do if they stood still long enough for me to type there name in!!!!!, and if i manage to get there name in, there either off line or nothing happens!! 5) quests?? how are you supposed to complete a quest??? ive managed to get to some bloke who tells me i need to go and kill some crawlers,,,, which ive done, and gone back to him as requested... and nothing happens, how many crawlers am i supposed to kill,,,,, as i ve said, ive been doing that bit for an hour and i,m fed up, what is the mechanism for making the bloke reaise ive done his quest???? how do i give things to him???? this is why i,m none to happy, for ??30 i,d have expected a bit better support from the online store, other that ask in game as an answer.. now i know this seems a bit negative, but can you see my frustration, I payed retail money ??30, for a game access, which is the same price as a boxed version, and i get no manual or basics and the support offered is in my opinion poor. Can anybody help me??? is a downloadable game basic manual available, or can anyone help me. Im rapidly approaching the stage where i delete the client and write of the money spent as a bad experiance mart |

This should be a good place to start on the basic operations of the game. Also if you hit the MENU button in the lower left corner of your screen while playing, then click OPTIONS - you will be able to see the default keys etc for everything and change them to your liking. Best of luck! |
